In recent article from Bloomberg News titled Bacteria in Brains Suggest Alzheimer’s-Gum Disease Link, a study found a link between dental hygiene and Alzheimer's disease.
The findings report that bacteria linked to gum disease enter our blood stream through everyday activities like chewing food and can find their way to other parts of the human body, including the brain. Brushing and flossing also have the potential to introduce bacteria into the blood stream, so regular brushing and oral hygiene are important in keeping a healthy mouth.
